St. George Island - St. George Island is a 22 mile long barrier island between the Gulf of Mexico and Apalachicola Bay. Biking is available on the 6-mile paved bike path. An additional 9 miles of biking at St. George Island State Park includes 5 miles in a sensitive environmental area (permit needed). There is no shade here, bring sunscreen, hat and water. The 6-mile paved trail runs along Gulf Blvd. from W. 12th Street to the entrance to St. George Island State Park. The trail provides easy access to the island's famous beaches.
This State park has parking, restrooms, playground, beaches, two boat/kayak launches, fishing, hiking, camping... and some spectacular sand dune "mountains."
