Page Summary:
We bike the trail from north to south
Black Creek Trail starts at Holly Cove Road, then crosses the Doctor's Lake bridge on a separate bike/pedestrian path. It continues past Moccasin Slough Park and Thunderbolt Park, ending at Black Creek Park. The trail passes residential developments and businesses - be careful at busy intersections.
Note: Plans are in the works to extend the trail 5 miles north along US 17 from Doctor's Lake to the Jacksonville Naval Air Station.
The pleasant park has parking, restrooms and picnic pavilion. An unpaved path runs to Black Creek. There's also a 2.4 mile single-track mountain bike trail rated easy/intermediate.
Note: South of Black Creek Park (across the bridge, be very careful if biking on the shoulder) is a paved path along US 17 running 3 miles from Camp Chowenwaw County Park to Governor's Creek bridge at Green Cove Springs.
