Woodpecker Trail

Biking at Big Shoals State Park

This 3.4 mile paved multi-use trail at Big Shoals State Park along the Suwannee River connects the Big Shoals and Little Shoals entrances of the park. Not a major bike trail, but a pleasant diversion if you're in the area, and there also are 28 miles of unpaved trails for mountain biking, hiking, and horseback riding. State Park fee applies. Biking on Woodpecker Trail

Along the Trail

Starting from the Little Shoals (west) entrance, to Big Shoals entrance and return - 7 miles round-trip.

Big Shoals State Park

The park has parking, restrooms, picnic facilities, and a canoe/kayak launch. In addition to biking, activities include hiking, paddling, horseback riding, birding, and fishing. Located along the Suwannee River, the park is notable as having the largest whitewater rapids in Florida, with 80 foot limestone bluffs overlooking the river providing views - we haven't tried this... yet!
