Guy Bradley Trail... Paved Everglades Biking

Scenic Bike Ride, Flamingo Visitor Center, Everglades National Park

Flamingo is not a primary Everglades destination for biking (unlike Shark Valley for example). But even limited biking and hiking can be a fun part of the National Park experience. Guy Bradley Trail is a scenic, paved pathway along Florida Bay from the Flamingo Visitor Center and to the campgrounds (about 1.20 miles round-trip).

Guy Bradley Trail at Flamingo Visitor Center... Comments and Photos

The Guy Bradley Trail is a scenic short-cut between the Visitor Center and the campgrounds. From the Visitor Center, follow the pathway west, then onto the trail running behind the Flamingo Lodge and Restaurant. Continue along the waterfront to the campgrounds. At the campground end, the trail starts from the turnaround at the end of the road, past the glamping tents. A restroom and amphitheater are located here, a popular spot for fishing.

  • The Flamingo area is notorious for the mosquitoes, bring insect repellant.
  • Additional biking is available on the park roads, on a pathway from the Visitor Center to the Marina, and another pathway from the trail to the main campground. We have found bicycles to be a great way to cruise around Flamingo - at a slightly faster pace, which helps to avoid the mosquitoes!

Guy Bradley Trail

The scenic paved path is popular for biking and walking, and is wheelchair compatible. Enjoy the views of Florida Bay, assorted birds and butterflies. Old pier pilings remain from the original fishing village at Flamingo. Restrooms are available at the Flamingo Visitor Center, and at the turnaround where the trail exits to the campgrounds.

  • The trail is named after Guy Bradley, an Audubon warden who was killed in 1905 while protecting wildlife in the area.
