Guy Bradley Trail... Paved Everglades Biking

Scenic Bike Ride, Flamingo Visitor Center, Everglades National Park

The Guy Bradley Trail is a paved pathway at Flamingo on the southern tip of the Florida Peninsula in Everglades National Park. The path runs for about 6/10 mile along Florida Bay between the Flamingo Visitor Center and the campgrounds, a scenic shortcut. Enjoy the views of Florida Bay, assorted birds and butterflies. Old pier pilings remain from the original fishing village at Flamingo. Restrooms are available at the Flamingo Visitor Center, and at the turnaround where the trail exits to the campgrounds. Guy Bradley Trail at Flamingo-Everglades... Comments and Photos

From the Visitor Center, follow the pathway west, then onto the Guy Bradley Trail running behind the Flamingo Lodge and Restaurant. The trail is popular for biking and walking, and is wheelchair compatible, though there are a few rough spots where roots are pushing up through the pavement. Continue along the waterfront to the campgrounds.

  • Where the trail ends are a restroom and amphitheater, a popular spot for fishing. Past here, ride the park road to camping areas.
  • Warning: The Flamingo area is notorious for the mosquitoes, bring insect repellant.

Some notes:

  • The trail and Visitor Center are named after Guy Bradley, the first Audubon game warden, who was killed in 1905 while protecting wading birds from plume hunters.
  • Additional biking is available on the park roads, on a pathway from the Visitor Center to the Marina, and another pathway from the trail through the main campground. We have found bicycles to be a great way to cruise around Flamingo - at a slightly faster pace, which helps to avoid the mosquitoes!
