Biking on Ichetucknee to O'Leno Trail.... Comments and Photos

Trail at Fort White

A portion of the track is preserved at the old Fort White Train Depot, which dates from the 1880's. Restaurants and shops are nearby. Note: This photo does not include the caboose that is now on display at the station, which has undergone restoration.

The Parks

Ichetucknee Springs State Park

Ichetucknee Springs State Park is best known for tubing and paddling, but other amenities at the 2,669-acre park include a Visitor Center, concession stand/food truck, parking, picnicking, playground, and 3 hiking trails. Swimming, snorkeling and scuba diving are available at 2 springs, but there are a total of 8 that join to create the Ichetucknee River. The Park is part of the Great Florida Birding Trail with a large variety of birds and wildlife including alligators, turtles, beaver, otters, deer and more.

O'Leno State Park

O'Leno State Park along the Santa Fe River is a beautiful 6,000 acre park. Park activities include camping, picnicking, hiking, swimming, wildlife viewing, paddling, and biking on the main park road. There are 11 miles of multi-use trails, best for mountain biking or hiking. Constructed by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the late 1930's, it still has buildings and the suspension bridge built at the time. A history museum tells about the town of Leno and millworks along the river.
