Biking on Bayshore Linear Park Trail... Comments and Photos

Bayshore Linear Park Trail Northbound

While the trail "officially" starts at Gandy Blvd., the first 0.1 mile is roadside on a wide sidewalk. The scenic bayside portion starts at West Hawthorne Rd. (condo entrance) and runs 4.4 miles north to Columbus Statue Park at the W. Platt St. Bridge. This is an easy ride with no crossroads, pull-outs are provided along the way to relax and take in the views. The crosswalks crossing Bayshore Blvd. are well marked. Past Columbus Statue Park, a connector to the Tampa Riverwalk is underway as part of a Brorein St. Bridge upgrade project that includes widening the sidewalks over the Bridge to 9 feet.

Ballast Point Park to Gandy Blvd.

Ballast Point Park serves as a trailhead, with scenic Bay views, parking, restrooms, picnicking, gazebo, playground, splash pad, boat ramp, fishing pier. The Taste of Boston restaurant here is a popular spot for food, snacks and bait.

We parked here and rode the 0.5 mile route on the sidewalk alongside Interbay Blvd. to Bayshore Blvd. and the Bayshore Linear Park Trail starting at Gandy Blvd. There are a few driveways into residential developments along this section.
