20 Bike Trails - from Lake Okeechobee to Palm Beach and south to Miami.


Biscayne Trail Biscayne Trail (Miami-Dade Route #5) - The trail starts at Black Point Park and Marina along Biscayne Bay, where it connects with the Black Point Trail. It then runs about 3 miles north along SW 87th Ave. to Old Cutler Road where it meets the Old Cutler Trail.

Black Creek Trail Black Creek Trail (Miami-Dade Route #7) - The trail runs about 9 miles from Black Point Marina and Park (where it links to Biscayne Trail) to Larry and Penny Thompson Park. Following the Black Creek Canal and mostly off the road, it also connects to the Old Cutler Trail.

Bluegill Trail, Palm Beach County Bluegill Trail - A Florida eco-biking destination. 9 mile trail from Riverbend Park on the C-18 canal levee to Grassy Water Preserve. Hard-pack shell and stone on the canal levee, paved trail past PGA Blvd. to the south.

Commodore Trail, Miami-Dade County Commodore Trail (Miami-Dade Route #1) - Varied 5.5 mile ride through scenic neighborhoods and central Coconut Grove, passing several parks and historic sites. Connects to Old Cutler Trail at the south end and to Rickenbacker Trail at the north.

Cypress Creek Greenway, Broward County Cypress Creek Greenway - The Greenway runs 16.5 miles from the edge of the Everglades at Tamarac to beachside at Pompano Beach.

El Rio Trail, Boca Raton El Rio Trail - Canalside trail running 4.8 miles through Boca Raton. All off the road, it's popular with both commuters and recreational bikers.

Hollywood Beach Broadwalk Hollywood Beach "Broadwalk" - A picturesque place to bike, walk, eat, shop and people watch. Formerly a beachside street, the Hollywood Beach "Broadwalk" runs about 2.5 miles past hotels, restaurants, shops, parks, and apartments.

Jonathan Dickinson State Park Jonathan Dickinson State Park - A Florida eco-biking destination. At 11,500 acres is a real treasure with something for everyone - biking, paddling, hiking, camping, picnicking, wildlife viewing, horseback riding, and more. The park roads are bikeable, plus there are paved bicycle trails and scenic nature trails.

Kissimeee Prairie Preserve State Park, eco-biking Kissimmee Prairie Preserve State Park - At 54,000 acres, this is one of Florida's biggest preserves, protecting the largest remaining tract of Florida dry prairie. Located in a remote area, not an eco-biking "destination" but it's a worthwhile escape to nature for camping, hiking, equestrian, and stargazing (an internationally certified "Dark Sky Park").

Krome Path, Miami-Dade Krome Path (Miami-Dade Route K) - As part of the Krome Avenue expansion from 2 to 4 lanes, a dedicated multi-use path has been added, 18.5 miles along Krome Avenue from Homestead at SW 196th St. to US 41 (Tamiami Trail) - a good example of transportation planning.

Lake Okeechobee Lake Okeechobee Scenic Trail (LOST), part of the Florida National Scenic Trail, circles Lake Okeechobee - the second largest freshwater lake in the U.S. - on top of the Herbert Hoover Dike. Used for biking, hiking, fishing, and bird watching, the 110 mile route is not always continuous, diverting onto roadways around a few locks. It consists of sections of both paved and gravel.

Miami Beachwalk, South Beach Trail Miami Beachwalk - This paved path spans the length of Miami Beach for 8 miles - a popular destination for walking, jogging, biking (plus great people-watching). This replaces the original Miami Beach Boardwalk. Easy access to the beach, hotels, restaurants, parks and more.

New River Greenway - Broward County Greenways New River Greenway - 11 miles in two disconnected sections starting from the edge of The Everglades at Sunrise and east to Davie. Markham Park at the western end serves as a trailhead, providing many facilities and activities. It also connects to the Conservation Levee Greenway.

Old Cutler Trail Old Cutler Trail (Miami-Dade Route #1) - This excellent 13.5 mile trail along historic Old Cutler Road links in the southern section with the Biscayne and Black Creek Trails, and in the northern section with the Commodore Trail.

Oleta River State Park biking Oleta River State Park - A Florida eco-biking destination. Florida's largest urban park, it is well known for miles of off-road bicycling trails, but also includes a paved 3 mile bike trail that circles the park, a great way to explore.

Palm Beach Lake Trail biking Palm Beach Lake Trail - Glimpse the lifestyles of the rich and famous biking along Palm Beach's Lake Trail. The 5 mile trail is on the west side of Palm Beach, along the Lake Worth Lagoon.

Richenbacher Trail Rickenbacker Trail (Miami-Dade Route #11) - An iconic ride, crossing the Rickenbacker Causeway to Key Biscayne with sweeping views of Miami and Biscayne Bay. 9 miles on the trail, more at Key Biscayne.

Riverbend Park biking Riverbend Park - A Florida eco-biking destination. This 680 acre Palm Beach County park features 10 miles of hiking/biking trails, 7 miles of equestrian trails, 5 miles of kayaking/canoeing trails on the Loxahatchee River, and picnic facilities - a great place for a family outing.

Snake Creek Trail Snake Creek Trail (Miami-Dade Route #2) - This is a pleasant neighborhood trail along the Snake Creek Canal from Snake Creek Park (NE 16TH Ave., North Miami) at the south, to NW 15th Avenue (Miami Gardens) at the north, 6.5 miles.

West Lake Park biking West Lake Park - Located between Hollywood and Dania Beach, this large urban park includes about 3 miles of mangrove preserve along the Intracoastal Waterway. Just under a mile of paved biking and walking trails wind through the southern section of the park.
